HTHP is a way in which synthetic diamonds are manufactured. HTHP uses Cubic Press(mainly consist of 6 hinge sleeve) in order to recreate the environment inside of the earth.
In HTHP, there are two kinds of equipment can be used to produce the diamond: one is Cubic Press, make the carbon of graphite phase translate into diamond phase; other is Two sections of the ball press.
Generally speaking, synthesis of small particles of diamond is relatively easy, large particles of diamond needs to use the Seeding Method, which need more pressure and temperature.
At present, HTHP method is still mainly method that used to produce single crystal diamond in Industry. Its advantage is simple manufacturing process and the diamond growth speed fast—usually, within 30 minutes can synthesis single crystal diamond under 1mm to meet the demand of industry.
But the HTHP also has disadvantages, such as small diamond particles, diamond with some impurities; In addition, high temperature and high pressure for long time is produced adverse effect on equipment,

The hinge sleeve is the important component part of cubic press, and during the diamond synthesis process it needs to bear great pressure，so its performance directly influences the performance of cubic press, thereby affects the quality of the synthetic diamond. Therefore, in order to increase the service life of the equipment, it’s necessary to focus on quality of it.
The cubic press belongs to the hydraulic equipment, about the performance of it, on the one hand it depends on the manufacture, installation precision of the hinge beam system(by six hinge sleeves assembly), on the other hand depends on the control system.

5.During the process of production, machine under huge pressure, easy to cause fatal damage, bring a lot of loss, how to solve or mitigate this problem?
To solve this problem, will need to consider the hinge sleeve system structure design and installation, make improvement on structure in order to reduce stress concentration: change the shape of transition circular arc at cylinder bottom and radius; change the diameter of ear hole; change the thickness of ear, etc. After data analysis, we know that change the parameters above three at the same time, it can be very effective to change the tensile stress of cylinder bottom and “ears” . When the three parameters have achieved the best combination, the tensile stress of cylinder bottom reduced by about 110MPa, the ears’ reduced by about 140MPa.
The press type we have are Ø420 / Ø530 / Ø650 / Ø750 / Ø800 / Ø950, the number represents the cylinder diameter.The type of Ø420 / Ø530 are used for produce cemented carbide tools, others used for produce diamond, like yellow diamonds, white diamonds and so on.
Synthetic diamond production mainly adopts the static ultrahigh pressure device in China, main types are: opposed anvil, cubic press, the latter operation is simple and production cost is relatively low, so it has larger share of the market, is the most commonly used synthetic equipment.
